Fuji Apples
Fuji apples are a sweet firm textured apple that ripens in mid-October. Fuji is a foreign apple with American parents. Japanese breeders crossed the venerable Midwestern variety Red Delicious with the antique Virginia apple Ralls Janet to produce what has become the No. 1 variety in Japan. It's been sweeping America as well in the 1990s as a salad and dessert apple and for eating fresh. Its appeal is its low-acid sweetness combined with juicy firm-fleshed crispiness and warm aroma. It keeps longer than most other varieties at room temperature.
